A sacred necklace...pipestone
(catlinite), found only
in Pipestone,
Mn, is a very special,
sacred stone
to Native Americans.
Here I have matched it up with antique
Chinese turquoise and sterling silver...
the colors of these stones are beautiful
and warming to the soul. |
This beauty is made with a
spectacular Balinese sterling bead
in the center, and true-blue turquoise
and more Balinese beads... |
Look at the fantastic carved bone
wolverine claw--this was carved
by a
local artist...I thought that
turquoise and hematite would make
the
pendant stand on its' own, and
yet
blend well together...I gave this
as a donation
for a fund raiser. The
earrings (sold)
are also bone, but with
glass moonstone
(it has the look of moonstone)
and sterling.

Wow! Look at this amazing
bead:
old turquoise wrapped with
Tibetan sterling, inlaid with 2mm
cabochons of coral & turquoise,
then stacked on a sterling wire with
beautiful turquoise & sterling beads.
|
This is a special
piece to me.
The cardinal inlay was given
to me by friends of mine out in
Oklahoma. He is of the Caddo
Nation and his wife from the
Wichita Nation---they have been
married about 70 years, and this is
his *2nd* marriage!. They gave this
to me as a gift for re-stringing all
their old necklaces...it fit perfectly
into this vintage
(circa 1960's) setting... |
Bracelet:
knuckle-bone
shaped turquoise and
hematite beads |

Necklace:
talk about bold!...
fossilized red coral (yes, that
means millions of years old---
now, don't you feel young?)
...it may look heavy (and it is),
but once on, you'll never
feel it..that's because it
is on memory wire...the
other silver-tone beads are
not silver--i have no clue what
they are made from, but i fell
in love with them... |
Necklace:
more fossilized coral,
this time sliced in its' raw state...
the bluish beads are vintage
glass
(circa 1950's) and hematite beads....
Earrings...fossilized
coral, Israeli
sterling silver tube beads, Balinese
sterling silver spacers |
Top:
after looking at this
spectacular
nugget of turquoise,
I decided it needed
nothing...so, on the leather it
went,
which is adjustable in
length...the black markings in
this piece are truly unique... |
A
wonderful pendant made
with coral and turquoise
(and sterling ), on red
leather
with a sterling toggle clasp |
Bottom:
another great piece of
turquoise
(okay, to me, they
are all great)..this one
has many animals in the
marking---just
like cave art...
on memory wire and
Balinese sterling beads. |
Bracelet:
I call this my snake
look...red coral, turquoise and
hematite---I love that combination. |
|
|
|
Earrings (left):
another 1/2 & 1/2---
coral, turquoise and hematite
(I told you I loved this combo)
...this had a matching necklace, but
that was snatched up immediately
upon finishing it |
|

Earrings (right):
fossilized coral and
Balinese sterling.... |

Ruby zoite is the name of
this
unusual colored stone...and it is
ruby---just not gem quality...the
necklace is made up of Japanese
glass tube beads, hand made
rectangular glass and Israeli
sterling... |
(SOLD)
These earrings
are a
slice of history..the drops are
from Nepal, and are over
100 years old... |
Another of my 1/2 &
1/2...the
cross is vintage (circa 1970's) and
is
2-sided: one side is
coral, the
other is turquoise...
The earrings are my Tipi design.. |
Turquoise,
pipestone, jasper and
hematite on memory wire...this
combination of colors reminds me
of the desert of the south-west. |
Top necklace:
What to say? this
beauty is simple: turquoise and
sterling... |
The bracelet
is a miniature of the necklace... |
Bottom necklace:
Limestone and
turquoise with tiny hematite
beads to show them off. |
